Last chapter

Oh well, this will be the last post for this tailoring for communication project. I do love this project and I am happy with the outcome, also I am so pleased of received a lot of compliment. This is very encouraging. I do really appreciated and I will try my best to do my coming project in final years.

 Research > analyze > predict > conclusion. From there, I see things from different perspective. Inspirations are comes from everywhere and we have to think out of box. This is the most important element for communication. Be creative and sensible. Convince people of what we are saying are truth. Therefore, I take graphic design and typographic as references while I am doing the project. I am really paying attention on the layout and typographic. Sometimes, I confused what course I am taking, graphic, advertisement or fashion design. Fashion communication seem cover everything. :p

 Writing is the hardest part through the whole project. My writing skill is not good, basic essay is all right but if compare to WGSN or Style.com, their writing are really convincing and sound better. I have worked really hard on the writing part, research from internet and did a lot reading. Hopefully, they are all right. Anyway, I knew I have to improved my writing skill. I have planned to do a lot reading on this summer. So we will see!=)

Binding

Completed both trend report and forecast and now I have to think how am I going to bind them up! I wanna present them as magazine style as the layout itself is according to magazine. However, the problem is I have no idea where can I get them done as magazine style beside saddle stitch. I do think of saddle stitch but this really spent a lot of time and effort. I did the forecast, only 12 pages, it took me few hours to layout. I hardly imagine how many hours I have to take for the trend report which is 40 pages. =='

I googled different way of binding. I have found mostly the magazine done it by perfect binding or saddle stitch. I like perfect binding, I have tried really hard to find where can I do it and yet I failed. I knew the trend report will look so imperfect if I do it by normal binding but .......

Forecast illustration

I have change my mind again. I have decided not to do the popup forecast book. The popup book is way to hard for me to pick up in few days, it takes pretty long time to done a good one. Therefore, I have to drop the idea even I have done so much research. However, so far I am working on the illustration and have done few illustration. I found it very fun incorporating the layers and colours, the effect are really good. XD

Photo shoot - outcome

Finally I got all the images!! As expected the total amount of images are only 21. The colour tone are faint, a lot of edit to do. However, gladly they are looking pretty good after edit.  =)

Done the photo shoot!

Finally done the photo shoot. It was really rush and delay, good things is everyone completed it. I think we did a very good job! The photographer and models are cool, professional. We had a very good times together. =)

The photo shoot was really really rush, as for the delay in the morning, people at the list behind need to cut down the shooting time. From 15min cut down to 7 min. The photo shoot is totally different from what I planned, was turned to freestyle, no concept. However, the model is very professional, she did very well , I was a bit sad as it was pretty unfair yet this is the best solution to fit everyone before the studio close.

I have not got chance to see the images yet, I am not sure if it looking good, I am actually kinda worry the outcome as the limited time I had.. =(  Never mind, I shall see them on Friday. Hopefully there will be at least few best shoot for me to add in my trend report. God Bless...

Trend book

The trend report will be present as a fashion magazine. It included the develops from inspiration to the photo shoot. My references magazine are CENT Magazine, WOUND Magazine and VOGUE Magazine. Reference to their layout and typography.  I have also read graphic book and typography book. From there, I have found it very interesting and it was very useful for communication. For the forecast, it will be a small pop up booklet included the silhouette, colour and fabrication.

So far, I have consider completed the trend report, after the photo shoot on Tuesday it will be 100% completed. I am working on my forecast, have illustrate few silhouette . They will be posting up soon once I fill in the colour the fabrication.

Reference the master works, like David Downton, Cedric Rivrain, Sophie Griotto. I specially love Sophie's work, she more focused on urban women. PopUp

I have been thinking how to present this tailoring for communication project. According to the brief handout, we must endeavorer to create a visual package pitched at a specific market within the fashion arena. Fashion communication is be the ambassador of the product. Creative, beautiful visual presentation could raise the attention.

Therefore, I planned to do the small booklet with pop up effect for the forecast project. It might look silly and childish for the tailoring yet we could change the images of tailoring, be creative and innovative. For example the photographs I post earlier, they sell tailoring and use fishing as the concept.

Trend report- introduction

I have analyze all the trends and concluded them into smaller section at the beginning of the trend report. It makes more understanding the development of the ideas.

Campaign/ Magazine shooting

Photographer, lighting, styling, make up and model are the important elements for a photo shoot. This coming photo shoot, my role is not a fashion stylist, but also I have to comes up with a photo shoot concept, at the same times, I need to well brief the model and photographer in order to get the marvelous visual package.  Therefore, I reference their styling, as well as make up. Even look at the angel photographer capture.

I love this photo shoot concept.  It is selling the tailoring yet using fishing as the theme, photographer very creative using conflict for tailoring shoot. Telling us tailoring can be relaxing and sassy indirectly. 

This is a very good example of selling the idea of enjoyment and relaxation, comes with strong background. Personally prefer outdoor shooting, as background is an important elements which can speak the story. Unfortunately , this coming photo shoot will be at indoor. However, this is a good concept. Photo shoot - outfits

Sorry, Niamh! I wasn't feeling well on today so I didn't paid attention on the workshop and left earlier.

13th May 2011, Friday. Very awful day for me. Indeed Black Friday.

Even is an awful day, time won't stop for me, tik tok tik tok ......... Time is running so I can't be lazy either!

I have got all the materials for making the "paper dress". The idea of making a "paper dress" is to reflect the dynamic sculptures I have mentioned earlier on the post.  In order to create the stiff look , I am using the harder paper. On top decorate with the gradient patch work which is related to my fabrication.

Here are the materials.

Firstly, I draw out the "patch work" (3.5cm x 7cm) and cut them out. 

Then, I using double sided tape to paste them on the "skirt".

Finally, here comes the "dress"! 

This top took me almost 4 hours to completed. It is very easy yet a lot of works to do. I am happy with the outcome. It look stiff- which is what I wanna it to be. Simple cutting, featuring drapery in texture, minimalism yet sassy.

Model will be wearing this bare back top with white tailor jacket and pant on the photo shoot.

Photo shoot

The photo shoot for this tailoring project will be on this coming Tuesday. There is hundred of things I need to take care of. The theme, model, style, make up, pose .... This is really headache!! However, things has to be done, yet one by one.

My narrative for this project is to find beauty in living simply- be comfortable, be yourself. Frozen the moment for your heart, to feel love, joy, tender relationship. The trend offers pure moments of enjoyment and relaxation. I want this photo shoot to show the daily life of a urban citizen.

First is to reflect the city "robot life". No facial expression, no body language. The model will be wearing the  "paper dress" I made. (I will post the making of the dress later! ;p)

Then comes to express the desire, which is enjoyment, relax moment. At first, I want the model showing the desire, the hungry of feel the love, joy, enjoyment. This will be close up image, the model sending out the message from her eyes. Then, the model standing in front of the mirror holding a tailoring jacket/dress. yet from back you can see the model is wearing a messy shirt, 2 pants.

Next is relief. Images a lady bodies is tied by fabrics and she trying to loose them, this is what the model has to do. Probably will be trying out from different angel to get the best shoot.

The last one will be back to my narrative, find beauty in living simply. The images shows love, joy, enjoyment.

There are a lot of detail I needs to work on, like the accessories, shoes, will be going to get them on Sunday. I have not get the chance to brief the model yet as I do not have her contact, however, she is a professional model hopefully she will be understanding how I would like to do for my shoot. I will speak to the photographer on Sunday. Brief him the idea and discuss how to led to a strong visual outcome.

The photo shoot will be in black and white. Hopefully the outcome will be marvelous.

Trend report- Colour

Combine the work of Elizavate Porodina and Fred Butler. Here go the colour concept.

Messy haircuts, yet oh-so-stylish street chic, we thought the party of diva style will never stop. However, we were wrong. Ths recession hit, not everyone was so interested in the outrageous diva glam but feel natural and simple. I remembered Niamh showed us this video before. I was so attracted. I love the music, dance, basically I love her concept , nature and fresh. Very coincidence, these are what I want for my colour trend. Nature, beauty in living simply, liverty........

Fred Butler- SunShowers

Fred studied at the University of Brighton and worked with Shona Heath and As FOUR (New York),before setting up her own label.

She decribe her signatures style as wearable sculpture, intricate textures, material manipulation, graphic shape and pattern, strong colour contrast with black and white highlights, iridescence and metallics.


Fred inject a new element and redefined fashion identification. Her Sunshowers collection, golden sparling shine into everyone eyes and we can’t get rid of them. She brings fabulosity to this world.

Her collection reflect the glory of the earth. The earth is full of colour.Nature colour,a state of mind, a way of being living liberty, natural, Sunshowers inspired me of the colour for this season.

 I also like her Hibiscus Ridiculous collection. The colours are delicious. Like candy!!!
